Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar files writ in HC

Patna, Apr 29 (PTI) Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar filed a writ petition in Patna High Court today seeking the closure of a road constructed on her land at Chandwa village in Bihar’s Bhojpur district without consent.

Hearing the petition, a single bench of Justice Jaynandan Singh directed Principal Secretaries of Panchayati Raj and Rural Works Departments to submit their explanations in this regard by May 6.

India ready to give full medical assistance to Sarabjit: Govt

New Delhi, Apr 29 (PTI) India is ready to provide full medical assistance to death row convict Sarabjit Singh, lying in coma in a Lahore hospital after a brutal assault, the Government said today.

“It is our endeavour and we will do whatever in our hands to make sure that all proper medical treatment is given to Sarabjit Singh -whether it is Pakistani doctors or medical experts from foreign countries.

Pak investigators to quiz Rehman Malik in Bhutto killing case

Islamabad, Apr 29 (PTI) Pakistani investigators probing the 2007 assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto have decided to quiz Rehman Malik after being told by Pervez Musharraf that the former interior minister had decided details of her security on the day she was killed.

Malik was head of Bhutto’s security when she returned to Pakistan from self-exile in late 2007.

India asks Pakistan to release camatose Sarabjit

New Delhi, Apr 29 (PTI) India today asked Pakistan to release death row convict Sarabjit Singh, whose condition remains critical after being brutally assaulted by jail inmates in Lahore, and demanded that a through investigation be done into the attack to ensure punishment to the guilty.

The Indian government also asked Pakistan to consider the option of transferring 49-year-old Sarabjit to India so that he can benefit from the best medical treatment available here.

Law Minister says he has done no wrong, govt rules out resignation

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) Under Opposition attack over the CBI affidavit on the coal scam issue, Law Minister Ashwani Kumar today said he had done “no wrong” and got support from the government which ruled out his resignation.

“I have done no wrong. Truth will prevail,” he said after a meeting of UPA chaired by Sonia Gandhi and attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

CBI status report shared with Law Minister: CBI Director to SC

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI)Setting off a political bombshell, CBI Director Ranjit Sinha today submitted before the Supreme Court that the agency’s status report on coal allocation scam was “shared” with Law Minister Ashwani Kumar “as desired by him” and that senior officials of PMO and Coal ministry had also seen it.

India asks China to revert to status quo in Ladakh

New Delhi, Apr 23 (PTI) India today asked China to revert to the status quo position in Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector in Ladakh where troops of both countries were in a face-to-face situation after Chinese forces intruded nearly 10kms inside Indian territory eight days ago.
