India, China sign pact to set up Chinese industrial parks

Beijing, Jun 30 (PTI) India and China today signed a key agreement to set up Chinese Industrial Parks in India as their Commerce Ministers today held the first meeting here after the new NDA government came to power.

West Bengal Governor Narayanan resigns

New Delhi, June 30 (PTI) West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan today resigned, becoming the fourth person occupying the gubernatorial post to put in his papers since the NDA government prodded some of the Governors appointed during UPA rule to quit.

Home Ministry sources said the Governor has tendered his resignation.

80-year-old Narayanan was recently questioned by the CBI as a “witness” in the AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter deal probe.

India launches five foreign satellites, Modi pitches for SAARC sattelite

Sriharikota (AP), Jun 30 (PTI) In yet another milestone in space technology, India today launched five foreign satellites on board an indigenous rocket, prompting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ask Indian scientists to develop a SAARC satellite which can be dedicated as a ‘gift’ to the neighbours.

After a perfect lift off from the First Launch Pad in Satish Dhawan Space Centre here at 9.

Enough space in world for rise of India, China: Ansari

Indian Navy deploys warship in Persian Gulf

New Delhi, Jun 28 (PTI) The Indian Navy has deployed its warship in the Persian Gulf as the government continues efforts to ensure safety of Indian nationals stranded in Iraq.

INS Mysore has been deployed in the Persian Gulf as it has been asked to be on standby by the government after the meeting of the crisis management group yesterday, Navy sources said here.

The warship has been asked to be remain there and await further instructions, they said.

Working on response to your directives: DU to UGC

New Delhi, Jun 27 (PTI) Delhi University today wrote to the UGC, saying it was working on a response in accordance with the “spirit of your directives” to ensure the admission process starts very soon.

“I am directed to state that the University is in the process of drafting a response in accordance with the spirit of your directives to ensure that the admission process start very soon. We will sent it to you at the earliest,” DU told the UGC.

CBI questions Narayanan in connection with VVIP chopper deal

New Delhi, June 28 (PTI) CBI on Friday questioned West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan as a “witness” in connection with its probe into allegations of bribery in the Rs 3600 -crore VVIP chopper deal with Anglo-Italian firm AgustaWestland.

80-year-old Narayanan was asked to appear before CBI officers to record his statement in connection with the deal as he was part of the group which had gone into the tendering procedures before purchase of the helicopters, CBI sources said.

Swaraj holds talks with Bangladesh counterpart; meets Hasina

PM for centre-state coordination to deal with inflation

New Delhi, June 26 (PTI) Amid weakening of monsoon and rise in food prices, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today pushed for close coordination between the centre and states on implementing contingency plans and asked states to set up fast-track courts to deal with hoarders and black-marketeers.
