Corporate spying; five including 2 oil ministry staff held

New Delhi, Feb 19 (PTI) Cracking down on a suspected case of corporate espionage, Delhi Police today arrested two Oil Ministry officials and three other middlemen for allegedly leaking classified government documents to energy companies for money as late night raids were conducted on offices of some of these firms.

Modi promises to develop North East into organic hub

Itanagar, Feb 20 (PTI) With the government’s thrust on development of North East, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the Centre was planning to make the region an organic hub to boost agriculture production and improve 2G, 3G and 4G connectivity in the region neglected for long.

The Prime Minister said the Centre is pro-active about North East and will initiate measures to bring the region?s development on par with other developed parts of the country.

Nitish becomes Leader of Opp in Bihar Legislative Council

Patna, Feb 19 (PTI) Bihar legislative council followed the state assembly in recognising JD(U) as principal opposition party in the House and gave status of leader of opposition to Nitish Kumar today.

Legislative council chairperson Awdesh Narayan Singh accepted plea of JD(U) that it be given status of opposition in the house.

Nitish Kumar, who is a member of the legislative council, has been recognised as Leader of Opposition in the house accordingly, Singh told PTI.

SU30 plane crash: Russia blames human factor; IAF denies

Bengaluru, Feb 19 (PTI) Russia today blamed “human factor” for the crash of a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft in October last year that led to the grounding of the entire fleet of India’s frontline fighter plane for a month, a charge denied by the Indian Air Force.

“Our stand is human factor,” said Vitaly Borodich, Vice Presdient (Military Sales) of Irkut Corporation.

Hindu temple vandalised with hate message in US

Washington, Feb 17 (PTI) A Hindu temple has been vandalised with hate speech in the US state of Washington, sending shock waves through the community in the area and prompting authorities to launch an investigation.

The incident happened when unidentified miscreants sprayed swastika and painted “Get Out” on one of the walls of the temple in the Seattle Metropolitan area. It is one of the largest Hindu temples in the entire North West.

Govt will not allow any religious group to incite hatred: PM

New Delhi, Feb 17 (PTI) Breaking his silence on the recent church attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said his government will not allow any religious group to incite hatred and will strongly act against any religious violence.

The Prime Minister, who has been accused by opposition and Christian groups of turning a blind eye to a string of recent attacks on five churches and a Christian school in Delhi, said his government “gives equal respect to all religions”.

Home min asks Delhi Police to extend full support to AAP govt

India, Sri Lanka ink civil nuclear pact, agree to expand defence ties

New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) Taking the ties to a new level, India and Sri Lanka today inked a civil nuclear pact besides deciding to expand defence and security cooperation.

This was announced after the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena during which both the leaders expressed commitment to find a solution to the emotive fishermen issue by adopting a constructive and humanitarian approach.
